Who We Are

More Than a
Martial Art

The ABUAD Taekwondo Team is a student-centred martial arts community at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, bringing students together through the practice of Taekwondo to strengthen their bodies, sharpen their minds, develop confidence and learn to support one another.

We see Taekwondo not only as a martial art, but as a lifelong path of character building, responsible leadership and self-improvement. Every training session is an opportunity to become stronger, more focused and more considerate.

The Art

A Brief History of Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art whose modern form developed during the twentieth century, drawing on ancient Korean traditions. The name "Taekwondo" was officially adopted in 1955.

TaeFoot — kicking and leg techniques
KwonFist — hand and striking techniques
DoThe Way — a path of personal development

Taekwondo is known for its dynamic kicking techniques, hand strikes, blocks, patterns (poomsae), sparring and self-defence training. Beyond physical skill, its practice encourages courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Today, Taekwondo is practised around the world as a martial art, a sporting discipline and a means of personal growth.

Our Commitment

At the ABUAD Taekwondo Team, every training session is an opportunity to become stronger, more focused and more considerate. We welcome students who are willing to learn, work hard, respect others and contribute positively to the team. Whether a member is taking their first steps in Taekwondo or preparing for advanced training and grading, we strive to provide an environment where effort is encouraged, progress is recognised and character matters as much as technical ability.
